When The Moken youths and teenagers fall in love they court each
other the same way as people in general. The men will show off their
talents or call for interest from the women.
Marriage.
In regards to marriage, the Moken people have no extensive ceremony.
The central part is the courtship and when the couple is ready they
will ask their parents for permission. If the parents agree, the couple
can live together.
However, the man must move in to the woman's house
and stay there for a period of time until they can move to build their
own house. The bride price usually depends on individual credit and
wealth. Some give some money while others give objects such as necklace
as bride price.
